MOWLEM PLACES CORSA ZYTEK THIRD IN LMP1 LAGUNA SECA ALMS QUALIFYING
SALINAS, CA (October 17, 2008) - In his first-ever attempt to qualify a prototype, Johnny Mowlem wheeled the Corsa Motorsports Zytek 07S to third in class for the start of the Monterey Sports Car Championships at Laguna Seca Friday afternoon. Mowlem turned in a time of 1:12.819 on his seventh lap, which was the team’s quickest time of the weekend.
The 20-minute qualifying session was red flagged with eight minutes remaining in the session, at which time Mowlem pulled the No. 48 into its pit box. The session recommenced four minutes later, and Mowlem’s posted time held for third and 12th overall.
The Nos. 1 and 2 Audis hold the first and second positions in class, with the LMP1 pole time posted by Emanuele Pirro was a 1:11.264.
